Our home from home comfort makes your stay with us stress-free. Umdloti is one of the best-kept secrets of the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast. Situated at the mouth of the Mdloti River, this quaint coastal village offers beautiful beaches with its very own rock enclosed tidal pool, and scenic coastal views, including whale and dolphin watching in season. The warm Indian Ocean is associated with holidays, fun, swimming, and relaxation.
Located on the second level, both bedrooms in No. 9 Umdloti have amazing sea-facing views. There is a verandah, which both bedrooms share, with a table and chairs. All the bedrooms have airconditioning, percale linen provided and hotel-quality beds. Fall asleep while listening to the sea; nothing better to cure the hustle and bustle that you may have left behind… NB: We regretfully do not provide bath and beach towels, so please make sure that you bring your own.
The master bedroom has a queen extra-length bed and plenty of cupboard space.
The second bedroom has 2 x single standard length beds with plenty of cupboard space.
Located on the entrance floor, the main living area, dining room, and lounge have amazing views of the sea. They both link onto a lower verandah with comfortable seating to watch the pods of dolphins surfing in the waves as they pass by in the morning, or watch the blasts of water from the passing whales in the distance.
We have Wi-Fi and a Smart TV
This is a very well-stocked kitchen with a little more than you would find in the average holiday apartment. Granite countertops and a butcher block makes this a cooks dream kitchen if you feel like staying in for your meals.
Because this is a three-level apartment, there is a small veranda on the first and second floors and a large veranda on the top story. The top story is perfect for braai’s, entertaining and sunbathing, where we have provided seating and a coal braai.
There are views of the sea from every corner of the apartment, so you’ll never miss out on any of the action in the waves!
Swim in the warm Indian Ocean, watch dolphins and whales from your balcony or go out and eat at one of the many well-known restaurants in town. There is a lovely swimming pool to laze around at or simply go for a stroll along the beach and breathe in the fresh air. Whatever your heart desires there is something to do!

Between the rolling hills of sugar cane fields, indigenous forests and KwaZulu Natal's beautiful dolphin coast, lies a quaint, peaceful little town called Umdloti. Umdloti is named after the Mdloti river just North of the town.
The Zulu's gave the river that name because of the Wild Tobacco plants that grew on the sand Banks. Although Umdloti is approximately 25km North of Durban, there is only a permanent population of about 3000 people. During the Holiday seasons, hundreds of holiday makers flock from Durban and all over the country to enjoy KZN's Hot sun, warm waters and Umdloti's beautiful beaches.
